This race, and the dot-watching, starts tomorrow, heading east to west this year which is a bit controversial. Frank P is rider number 155. I think there are one or two other people known to some of us who are taking part, although I don't see Rimas on the rider list.

According to the tracker Frank has covered 265 kilometres since this morning, having stopped for only 46 minutes!

Well, life got in the way of following the dots for me, but I see from FB this morning that Frank has scratched due to symptoms of Schermers Neck, which is very sad as he was going well after resolving some problems with gear shifters.

All long distance events have risks of discomfort and niggles of some sort or other . Developing Schermers neck comes into the category of stupid damage, so wise decision from Frank.

Just been reading about the amazing leader of this race, Fiona Kolbinger.

And having won, she's now going to ride Paris-Brest-Paris. The 600km to Paris being a little recovery ride.

I just thought of the Olympics

The men's distance is 250km and the women's distance is 140km. In the time trials the riders, who start at 90-second intervals, race against the clock over distances of 44km for men and 29km for women.

Seeing women's road race only started in 1984, how long before they finally work out that the little ladies might be ble to match the men's distances.

And don't talk to me about Wimbledon.
